29th-31st October 2010
This week end 1st Shoebury Scout Group participated in the Belchamps Sppoky Activity Day, and held their annual Halloween Camp.
The Scouts and Cubs came over on the Friday, where they carved pumpkins, played Charades and had a supper of hotdogs and soup before turning in, ready for a fun-filled saturday!!
Saturday started bright and early, with a scrumptious breakfast and a great sloshing in the muddy fields all around! Before long the Beavers arrived ready for the Belchamps Spooky Activity Day and everyone had a fab time joining in on all the activities, such as climbing the climbing and high ropes, bouncing on bouncy castles, riffle shooting and archery! After lunch, everyone was back doing even more activities, and thoroughly enjoying themselves before the Beavers were picked up and taken home muddy, tired but happy!
After a few games of Man Hunt, time to explore the wood and a scrumptious tea of either Spag Bol or Chilli Con Carne, the Cub Leader Sarah ran a campfire (with the help of Mel and myself). We all sang fun campfire songs such as The Pirate Ship Song and Everywhere We Go! After a short break for hot chocolate and biscuits, we played some campfire games like 'tick tock' and 'the moon is round' before the cubs went back to their tents, exhausted from the days activities!
The it was the Scouts turn to swarm the campfire! They all sat around the fire roasting marshmellows and haribo sweets and chatting. One Scout was even brave enough to sing a solo song! Well done! They too went to their tents before long, it had been a long day after all!!
Everyone was up bright and early on Sunday morning, ready for a fry up and cereal before packing up camp. Even with lots of mud and worked to do the kids worked wonderfully and we got things sorted quickly so they had time to 'chill'! Lunch was Stew Parcels, made by the kids them selves!
Once everything was packed and the tents were down, everyone went up to Council Rock on Jungle Rise to invest James, a Scout, into 1st Shoeburyness Scouts! He was the first scout to be invested on the rock! Then back to collect our things before meeting parents back at the Hutch and Den. Tired, muddy but happy with this wonderful weekend!!
